A place to belong, since 1945

Service brought us together.
Community keeps us close.

We are the veterans, families, and friends of Chinatown Post 628. For generations, our post has been a place to share a meal, remember those who served, and look out for one another.

Rooted in Los Angeles’s Chinatown, we carry that spirit of service forward.

Get to know our story

Our roots

A small beginning.
A lasting legacy.

On September 18, 1945, sixteen veterans established what became Chinatown Post 628. In the years after World War II, the post became a home for Chinese American veterans and a connection to their community.

Our name and surroundings have evolved. Our commitment to fellowship and service remains.

The heart of Post 628

Different generations.
One community.

Our story includes veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. Behind every uniform is a person, a family, and a lifetime of memories worth preserving.

More than a meeting.
A familiar face.

For our members, the post is a place to reconnect with friends who understand, welcome a new face, and stay involved in the life of Chinatown.

Families and friends are part of that story, too. Together, we keep the memories—and the friendships—alive.
